UPDATES~! [02 Dec 2009|01:19pm]
[ mood | chipper ]
[ music | Rapper's Delight - Sugarhill Gang; I Can't Decide - Scissor Sisters ]

things are going surprisingly good. I went to the doctor last Friday, got my check up and a prescription for anti-depressants. I don't care if it's just a placebo effect so far or if things are just going good lately, but they really seem to work. work is work and they have me playing the part of code monkey at work where I'm coding and cleaning up our department's section of the TTUHSC website. I'm learning XHTML as I go and that has been both fun and frustrating with this Luminis program that basically codes things for you, but whenever I try to do things manually it tries to "correct" me or do them for me, leading to a lot of redundant code and screw-ups.

I also got an early christmas present in that my grandma gave me $45 for new shoes for work because the last ones were killing my poor poor toes. they were slip-ons, but they got loose because of the constant walking I do at work sometimes, so my feet were floating around and my toes kept getting smashed. The new shoes I bought are black steel-toed boots that lace all the way up. fuck yes. all are envious of me at work (except of course the only two other girls at work. Stella said "wow, you just keep getting further and further away from girl shoes don't you? we need to go out and get you some damn feminine shoes for work for once". and Monika said "but you're not in construction....")

I also locked my keys in my car earlier while me and a co-worker went to lunch. As we set out from the office, I looked at my large pocket knife I always carry with me (appalachian trail brand, for anyone who cares) and had put in my office drawer so as not to carry it. and I thought to myself 'well, I don't need a knife when I'm just going to eat, but carrying a knife is always good'. So I slipped my knife back into my jacket pocket and we left. as soon as we got to the restaurant, I locked my keys into my car with the engine running. While John went to ask at the body shop across the road for a hanger, i looked around the empty alley that ajoins the parking lot. I managed to find a rusted wire hanger that I unraveled, and using my trusty knife to pry the window enough to slip the wire in and unlock my car (it's a non-electric car). one of the people who lived in the houses next to the alley saw me looking around and went to get a slimjim he owns to help me out, but I had gotten it open before he could come back 3 minutes later, so I thanked him profusely nevertheless.

good old knife.

my tv randomly decided to die. my brand new LCDTV with HDMI. so I had to mail it out to Dallas, TX to get it fixed.

and that's pretty much what's up with me.

I like tetris [18 Oct 2009|04:15pm]
also it just so happens i'm still alive, for anyone who cares

You Are the "T" Block

You are very flexible and adaptable. You're able to fill almost any role or do almost any job.

You are peaceful and calm. In fact, you're so tranquil that people often forget you're around.

You prefer to leave the drama to other people. That being said, you sometimes end up cleaning up someone else's mess.

You don't mind doing the dirty work every so often. You're a true team player, and you're always happy to contribute.

After two glorious months of paradise, Jarek went home this morning at 7:10 a.m. I dropped him off at 6 at the airport and as soon as he turned to the baggage check-in and i sat in my ar i burst out into loud sobbing, wailing tears. terrible, yes, i know, but i really just could not help it. i love him and for once we got to play house with no one and nothing to bother us. i just don't know how i'm going to cope with coming home to an empty apartment with no one to say hi to me and to be glad to see me. just all the empty quietness.

[ mood | sore ]

Here's a rundown of my weekend vacation to Albuquerque, New Mexico with my sweetheart Jarek:

Wednesday:
had sushi for dinner with yvonne (the three of us), then dropped the cat off

Thursday:
went to work, and packed my luggage during my lunch break
after work, wrapped up the luggage loose ends and drove the 3 hours to ABQ

Friday:
got up around noon, had brunch at IHOP. I had a meaty omellete and Jarek had a philly cheesesteak.
Then we went to Cliff's amusement park where i got a 92 out of 100 on the strength test and won a medium prize. Jarek plans on using the squeaky inflatable hammer to bop the cat once we get her back.
bought some chips and beer

Saturday:
got up around noon, went to the zoo and saw the tons of animals. sadly, no leopard. went back to the hotel where we looked up different restaurants till it got late, gave up, and headed back to IHOP where i got a Sirloin steak with everything and Jarek got an international club sandwich

Sunday:

got up around noon, went to the New Mexico Museum by mistake, saw lots of art and old spanish conquistador artifacts. then looked around until we saw our real destination: the New Mexico museum of natural history and science. saw lots of dinosaurs and the history of the computer. grabbed some subway on the way back and chilled

Monday:
got up around 7:30 am (the pattern is broken!) packed up our stuff, drove back home. stopped at the northwest community college campus and i was registered to graduate (hoozah!). went home, did laundry and relaxed

and that my friends was my weekend trip.

well Jarek came into town safe and sound last Thursday and I've been in lala land since then. We bought some groceries, recleaned the apartment, bought 6 games at gamestop, made lunch and dinner and have had lots of fun since then. Plus, he's staying for the entire summer! Also, at some point soon, we'll be heading up north to visit Albuquerque. should be good.

So far, this is exactly what i pictured a happy life would be.

I bought me a mountain bike on tusday night. it's a 26 inch men's bike and it cost me 89 bucks at Wal-mart. i already rode it to and from work yesterday and i rode it today despite some of the light sprinkling this morning. hopefully this will get my lazy butt some much needed exercise. it take me ten minutes to ride to work and another ten minutes to ride back which will average me about 20 minutes of exercise a day, 5 days a week if you don't count the times i'll be riding at work to deliver documents and such all across campus. my legs felt a little wiggly and wobbly after the first morning and evening but then again, i haven't ridden a bicycle since middle school, so that may account for that. wich me luck and away i go!

[ mood | groggy ]

work is seriously kicking my ass lately. too many candidates coming in for different positions and people are telling me the DAY OF their actual arrival that oh, by the way, forgot to tell you to make some binders to distribute all over the campus to the people they will be interviewing with. on top of trying to finish this database that we have to send back to the head honchos over in Lubbock at the same time and whatever else anyone needs at the time.

I'm not mad, I actually really like my job. it's just been a lot all at once and my brain is starting to fry. plus, even though i'm getting enough sleep, it's not restful. like i slept but i wake up and my batter feels like it only charged 25%. or it'll be a weekend and i have time off, but even though i don't do anything and try to relax instead, i don't. i don't relax and breathe even though all i'm doing is laying in bed. so i don't know

this weekend won't be any less untiresome since i will actually be doing things. need to do laundry (hopefully do that on friday after work) because i skipped it last week and i'm down to my very last clean work pants; need to sweep the house and pick up (didn't do this the last two weeks, though it's not bad); go to class on saturday; type up my 3 page book report for brit lit class; transcribe an hour long meeting on tape to Word; get my haircut, and then get ready for work on monday.

my brain has not stopped hurting from staring at my computer for so long what with the constant typing...

[ mood | s'alright ]

So, I plan on purchasing a bento box. What with an attempt at eating more plain rice (brown) and grilled fish so as to eat healthier and lose weight and whatnot.

eating rice everyday of course means i have to eat it in a rice lunchbox. therefore the BENTO! (cue dramatic music)

but the dillemna is, which do i pick? I narrowed it down to two different ones.

The first one costs $14.80 and is blue, with two separate boxes, chopsticks, box and a bandanna to warp it all up in. it's 6X3 inches and 2.75 inches deep

http://www.jbox.com/PRODUCT/BENTO201

The second one costs $20.00 and is metallic dark grey, with chopsticks and is 8X6 inches and 2 inches deep.

Already made my appointment with the doctor for monday, so hopefully getting off teh shot and onto somethign else will work. My carribean doctor herself said I wasn't going to lose anything until I get off that shot so keep your fingers crossed for me.

Anyone have any ideas about getting motivated to draw again? I want to, but I can never think of anything TO draw, is the problem.

Your Word is "Why"

You see life as complicated and intriguing. The only thing you know for sure is that you haven't figured it all out yet.

You question everything and believe very little. And whatever you believe is likely to change.

You are interested in theories, philosophies, and religions... even if you don't buy into any of them.

You are also fascinated by how things work. You'd like to understand as much in the world as possible.

The Bravery - Bad Sun [25 Nov 2008|03:01pm]
We are liars like the summertime
Like the spring we are such fools
Like fall we are the prophets
Like winter we are cruel

I don't know what's wrong with us
They just made us this way
There's a hole in you and me
That pulls us together

And I don't know where we belong
I think we grew under a bad sun
I know we're not like everyone
You and me we grew, under a bad sun

Every day you bring me pain
And we savor it like rain
We hold it on our tongues
Just like wine

Someday back when we were young
I guess something just went wrong
The two of us are hung
From the same twisted rope

And I don't know where we belong
I think we grew under a bad sun
I know we're not like everyone
You and me we grew under a bad sun
You and me we grew under a bad sun

Good news everyone! [03 Nov 2008|02:08pm]
and some bad, but on to the good news first:

I got the apartment. My uncle Spike gave me $200 to help with the deposit and i already called the electric and gas company today and got it transferred to my name. On Saturday, after I signed the lease, I went to the Ascarate Park Flea market where I got:
  • a large tv for $50
  • a 5 foot long rectangular table with 2 chairs for $35
  • new microwave for $20
  • toaster for $5
  • iron for $7
On sunday, gary moved all my stuff and also gave me a chest of drawers, and two standing lamps as well as a box with a small assortment of things including but not limited to: a portrait of a tennis racquet, a spice rack, a desk lamp and a baseball mitt, amongst a few other various things. We stopped at Blanca's house (my dad's coworker) where we got a mattress, box spring, metal wheely things, a lamp, covers, bedsheets and a pillow for $30 (unusued. her daughter had moved out). my stepmom got me some dishes and a pan. all in all, i pretty much furnished my apartment for about $200 if you count the extra cleaning supplies and shower curtains and things like that. still need one or two things, but all in all it's a good feeling getting away from my mom hopefully once and for all. she's been looking for me again, but no one's said a word.

now for the bad news:

mom tossed toby out.

i went to get him saturday and michelle said they'd given him away to an old lady who's cat died. and that they tried leaving me a ton of messages (none of which i of course somehow managed to not receive.) I don't buy it. I'm more than certain they did it to be spiteful. well they can rot in hell and i hope that toby's ok.

I HAVE FOUND AN APARTMENT!

Yes, ladies and germs, an apartment. with only $300 per month for rent and it's one block from work. it's not pretty on the outside, but the inside is decent and not rat or roach infested. I will sign the lease on saturday and haul my stuff on sunday. it will be a good day. it comes with a stove and fridge, and my grandma has an extra microwave she keeps out in the yard (don't ask). my dad is giving me his airbed for now and supposedly my uncle is getting me a table at the least. past that, i need a small tv and a bookshelf (or actual mattress would be nice). one of my new coworkers named Monika found out i was lookign for a place and said she had tons of stuff she could give me since she's moving with her boyfriend. XD

Oh frabjous day, calloo callay!
